Film synopsis

The film that took reggae music to the world, The Harder They Come is the essential rebel-reggae story of a young Kingston musician whose attempt to lift himself from poverty leads to drug dealing and murder.Reggae legend JIMMY CLIFF plays the young musician and outlaw who fights back against a corrupt system, a man who finally gets fame, and a hit record, as he spends his days on the run from police and gangsters. Jimmy Cliff not only embodies a black folk hero with the stature of a Jamaican Jesse James, but, along with Toots and the Maytals and Desmond Dekker, contributes classic songs to the revolutionary soundtrack, including “THE HARDER THEY COME”, “YOU CAN GET IT IF YOU REALLY WANT” and “MANY RIVERS TO CROSS”.  A worldwide cult hit, this defining film gave reggae music a global audience, and is presented complete and uncut in a new widescreen transfer.
