Disney sensation Debby Ryan (Jessie, Sing It) makes her Australian film debut alongside fellow Disney regular Naomi Sequeira (Hanging with Adam & Naomi,The Evermoor Chronicles), in the perfectly-pitched tween feature, Rip Tide.
After a humiliating modelling incident, Cora (Debby Ryan) books a one-way ticket out of New York, final destination: Australia. Expecting a five-star holiday with her Aunt Margot, Cora realises all too late that her idyllic beachside retreat has no internet access and is miles from the nearest city. Cora feels trapped, but as time goes by, friendships bloom and romance sparks between her and handsome Tom. And when the community realises Cora’s hidden talent as a fashion designer, they rope her into creating the outfits for the big Surf Festival. When her mum calls to let her know that she’s secured a fantastic modelling contract, Cora must decide between a career she’s been working so hard for to impress her mother, and the community that’s welcomed her with open arms and an opportunity to do what she loves.
Filmed in Southern NSW in Kiama, Jamberoo and scenic surrounds, Rip Tide is directed by emerging Australian filmmaker Rhiannon Bannenberg (Ambrosia), with a raft of Australian talent in the supporting cast, including Andrew Creer (Barracuda, Lethal Weapon TV series), Aaron Jeffrey (Janet King), Jeremy Lindsay Taylor (Love Child), Genevieve Hegney (The Kettering Incident) and Marcus Graham (Secret City).
