A huge box-office smash in Israel, Reshef Levi’s Hunting Elephants unites some of Israel’s most treasured stars of the stage and screen alongside Sir Patrick Stewart (Star Trek, X-Men) in this modern-day heist film. After losing his father in a bank accident, socially awkward yet brilliant teenager Jonathon (Gil Blank) is left in a nursing home by his mother with former bank robber and curmudgeonly grandfather, Elijah, played by award-winning actor Sasson Gabay, to keep him company. Together, Jonathon and Elijah — with help from fellow nursing home resident, Nick (Moni Moshonov), and an eccentric English uncle, Lord Michael Simpson (Stewart) — hatch a scheme to help Jonathon avenge his father’s death and re-live their glory days.

Hunting Elephants opened the Jerusalem Film Festival in Israel earlier this year and was nominated for seven 2013 Ophir Awards (Israel’s Oscars). The film will premiere at JIFF in Sydney on Saturday 2nd November at 7pm and in Melbourne on Saturday 9th November. For tickets and further session times please refer to the JIFF website.
